Meet the 2025 Incident Management Team
What you should know as an Incident Management Team (IMT) Member
An IMT member is someone who has been asked directly by the IC or designated Section Chief to fill a specific position on the team.
Team spots are limited and only recruited members can register in the IMT category.
It is expected that IMT members are available for the entire academy week.
Each team member is volunteering their time to ensure the success of the Academy and create the highest quality learning environment. This is not a paid position by the Academy.
Breakfast and lunch is included for each recruited team member for every day assigned to the academy. These meals are provided at the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University cafeteria.
A hotel room is provided by the Academy for the duration of the recruited team members’ commitment to the Academy. However, team members may book and pay for their own accommodations. Shared accommodations may be utilized when space and/or fiscal constraints are in place.
In the past, some team members have worked with their home unit supervisor to receive compensation for their time. Home unit/agency support varies.
For those not receiving compensation by their employer and working 100% as a volunteer, a letter can be provided by the AWIMA non-profit. This may be submitted for tax purposes and documentation. Please consult with a qualified tax professional for any tax advice.
If you are taking a class but would like to help with the IMT around your class schedule, you can volunteer your time and work with the section chief if they are in need of the help. Those volunteering around their time as a student will not receive the same benefits as a recruited team member.
Anyone can sign up as a Trainee for the Team
If you are not recruited by the IC or a Section Chief, you can register for a trainee spot. Section chiefs will communicate expectations after you register and may include participation in pre-planning meetings starting in January.
Trainees are expected to be involved fully for a minimum of 3 consecutive working days. Anything less will not allow for a quality training assignment. All positions require the individual to be on-site and virtual is not an option.
There is a registration fee of $40/day. This will include breakfast and lunch for each commitment day at the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University cafeteria.
Trainees are responsible for their own lodging accommodations.
Since the Academy is a pre-planned event, a final evaluator signature for certification will NOT be made for NWCG taskbooks however this may be available for FEMA/All-Hazard taskbooks (Gold Card).
An evaluation will be provided for each trainee in addition to taskbook signatures.
Bring your kit and initiated taskbook.
