Prescribed Fire Plan Preparation and Implementation
RX 301 is designed to introduce students to the tools and techniques used to perform in the role of a Prescribed Fire Burn Boss. The course material is based on the tasks found in the position taskbook for Prescribed Fire Burn Boss. It leads the student through the duties and responsibilities associated with the position of the Prescribed Fire Burn Boss including evaluation and implementation of a prescribed fire plan.
The purpose of RX-341, Prescribed Fire Plan Preparation, is to provide students with the skills/knowledge to prepare a prescribed fire plan for technical review and approval in accordance with the Interagency Prescribed Fire Planning and Implementation Procedures Guide, PMS 484.

Notebook/pencil/pen
Reusable water bottle

Any medications currently prescribed
Interagency Prescribed Fire Planning and Implementation Procedures and Reference Guide (PMS 484)
Bring appropriate clothing for a field day in the woods.
Laptop computer
Completed pre-work
Pre-Requisites

Pre-Requisites ***
-Successful completion of S-390 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior Calculations.
-Proficient in the use of BehavePlus
-Satisfactory completion of pre-selection assessment
-Fire personnel must be qualified as Firing Boss and Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4)
-Resource personnel must have knowledge of fire suppression principles and techniques

This instructor-led course has pre-course work and pre-selection assessment (estimate 2 hours).
Read and be ready to discuss the Guide to Successful Prescribed Burn.
Complete the pre-selection assessment (pre-course work) and submit as directed by the instructor. You must obtain a score of 70% or higher to be admitted into the course.
